Yes, They Do Happen!


From a business perspective, CRM success requires a thoughtful and independent review of the current level of customer awareness. It's great that you want to make improvements, but if you don't understand what CRM is (Customer Relationship Management) then you could very well make the mistake of automating processes designed to support a product-centric approach to your business. This is probably what you have already, and can make you look like separate companies to your customers.

Developing a CRM strategy is an important first step. After all, this plan is what you will be automating with your CRM software selection. So, take an honest look at yourself and your company. Are you bringing too much baggage and preconceived notions to the table? If so, your investment deserves a CRM consultant that can guide you through the entire process.

My guidelines for success are pretty simple:

  1. A CRM Strategy must have been developed prior to making a software decision.
  2. The plan must have included both tangible measurements of success (i.e., recaptured market share, increase in margins, etc) and measurements that are more subject so you have to think creatively.
  3. Users involved in the tactical side of the plan must have fully adopted it and clearly see the benefits to them.

Pretty simple. Sure, there are more details but these should server as some simple guidelines. Now, let's here what you have to say about your CRM triumph.
