You know how I say software isn't the solution?

CRM+Email Marketing+eCommerce=Double Your Sales Well, Infusionsoft CRM software really turned my head the other day. I'm not kidding when I say that software isn't the solution, but this company is so similar to my web hosting company (Sitesell) that I felt compelled to share what I know of them.

Since I haven't actually used the software, my judgment is based a review of the demo, the fact that they incorporate business strategy programs (eBooks, etc) into their offering and that Pat Sullivan, the creator of Act! and Saleslogix, joined the board of directors. That says a lot to me.

So what is Infusionsoft all about?

First off, this is a SaaS (software as a service) offering targeted for the SMB market. And when I say SMB, I mean no more than 25 people in the company. That is their stated target market. And based on the testimonials I read, there are some small businesses that are now operating on steroids because this platform offers a lot.

One of the biggest issues I have with software companies targeting larger enterprises is that they throw so many useless bells and whistles at you that it can actually be frustrating.  Since these are an attempt to sell you on features, your mind begins to explode when trying to turn them in to a meaningful return on investment, and stave off low user adoption.

Infusionsoft CRM software is simple....yet powerful!  But as with any software, you need to start with a strategy because the tools you get with this software won't know what to do without the proper planning. Fortunately, this company offers some help in this area. So, here's what you get with this package.

  • Marketing Automation - The tools this platform offer allow you to easily create multi-step marketing programs and put them on auto-pilot. The software I typically work with has to be integrated with another system, and the integration is always the weak point. Frankly, most of the marketing services don't offer a simple way to build complex inter-related campaigns, so they don't get used at all. Not the case with Infusionsoft.
  • Advanced Contact Management - Does that mean it's better than others out there? Not 100% sure. But I do know that the solution that is available here would require advanced integration with marketing and accounting systems with any other CRM solution; and this costs lotsa $$$'s. Infusionsoft CRM software includes Marketing and Accounting (not to mention E-Commerce) in one simple package.
  • Sales Force Automation - If advanced lead distribution, sales management and reporting features are something you want without having to engage a consultant to build out the vanilla packages on the market today, this is something you want to look at.
  • E-Commerce - Imagine a CRM software solution that actually has an integrated shopping cart. If that doesn't start you thinking about ways to extend your business simply, I don't know what will. Internet purchases have been growing at an exponential rate over the past few years and if you aren't taking advantage of it, your competitors will.
  • Affiliate/Referral Program Management - Even in my world, I can envision recruiting partners, referrers and affiliates through an unlimited multi-tier system like this. The cost of integrating this to traditional CRM has always been a reason for impulsive push-back. Now that it's incorporated right into your software, there are no more excuses for not tapping into this powerful income generator!
  • Billing and Accounting - Does your CRM system handle slow payments automatically? Does it setup automatic credit card charges? Does it allow you to set-up and track custom payment plans? No, it doesn't! What else do I need to say?
  • Fusion Box - While this system is designed for the ease of end user use, you can't expect people to find everything as intuitive as you. So, Infusionsoft CRM software comes with free access to hundreds of training videos that walk you thru everything.
  • Community - One of the things that I've learned by working with Sitesell is that a complete solution includes a plan or strategy for doing business. In this case, the average business owner is not an expert in marketing. Nor will they get the complexities of multi-step marketing right out of the gate. Infusionsoft CRM software provides e-Books and Free Reports on these topics. But, possibly the best service they offer is the community of other Infusionsoft users. I know from experience in the Sitesell forums that this is possibly the best way to share knowledge; especially when you have a community of enthusiastic owners. They love to share their success.
  • You don't have to manage your own Server Room!

I've run a small consulting firm providing CRM software and services. I was overwhelmed. I thought I would just have to sit there and write cool programs. But the realities of business ownership are devastating if you are unprepared and don't have the capital to hire an army. I urge any small business owners out there to look very closely at this solution. If you're still uncertain, contact some of the people writing testimonials and ask them how it helped them.
